The Stanford Sports Performance Internship is a full time volunteer internship. Volunteer Intern Sports Performance Coaches play an integral role in the Sports Performance department. They are responsible for the daily operations of the Sports Performance facilities and assist the Sports Performance staff with the implementation of training programs.
The internship includes a curriculum to learn and apply Stanford Sports Performance’s training philosophy. Part of the curriculum also includes strength & conditioning basics, educational presentations, structure & organization, progressions, weight room management/logistics, sport science technologies/concepts, communication with other support staff & coaches, along with informal discussions.

Stanford University is accepting applications for volunteer intern coaches to contribute to the Sports Performance Program for the 2020 winter and spring quarters. Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to serve all 35 olympic sports and will have the opportunity to assist in all training sessions in compliance with NCAA rules. This is an unpaid opportunity that provides experience assisting the staff implement individualized, comprehensive, sport-specific, injury prevention and performance enhancement programs.
Potential candidates must possess an enthusiastic spirit, strong character, and demonstrate effective organization and communication skills. Required qualifications include achievement or current pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related course of study and CSCS or SCCC certification. Applicants must have current CPR/AED certification. This internship is expected to begin no later than Monday, January 5th 2020, and requires a 6-month time commitment with opportunities to continue pending positive evaluation. During this evaluation, interns will have the opportunity to compete and earn consideration for a paid intern position on the Sports Performance staff.
